Indore: Masked men suspected to be members of the ‘Chaddi Baniyan’ gang (a tribal community known for thefts) looted a family from Bhopal when they were on their way to Shirdi on Saturday.Based on the complaint of one Smita, a resident of Roshanpura in Bhopal, a case was registered against unidentified persons. “We are trying to identify the accused. Several such incidents have come to fore in the past few months,” Kishanganj police station in charge Karni Singh Shaktawat said.Smita told police that they were travelling to Shirdi when suddenly the tyre of their four-wheeler flattened near Kishanganj area. The driver got down from the vehicle and was checking the tyre when suddenly some people accosted them and started threatening them using sharp edged weapons.They took away cash and jewellery worth Rs 60,000 from the family. Police said that there is a possibility that the looters must have donned the attire in order to confuse police about the involvement of the gang. They flattened the tyre of the vehicle by placing sharp edged objects on the road and then looted the family.
