DAVV allows departments to purchase books online

INDORE: The departments of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya DAVV ) will be able to purchase books online from this year. Therefore, the process of book purchase has been decentralized, he added.The budget for buying books online will be Rs 10,000. Plus, the process has been decentralized.On Wednesday, all the departments were handed over a checklist for purchase of books so that they can buy required books from the budget of self-finance. “Some complaints were made that despite ordering books of particular author/ course some other books were delivered. “On the demand from the faculty, we have also made the option of buying books online open for the departments, especially in case of any emergency,” central library in charge Ajay Kumar said.The central library has not received any grant for the new session.

While placing the order for the books, a department will have to bear the cost initially. Thereafter, it can get reimbursement against the bill.“There are times when the faculty needs a particular book, which is not available in the market, so they will now have the option of buying it online since the books available online are comparatively cheaper. However, they will have to pay the amount and later get it reimbursed,” he said.This year, DAVV has decided to buy books directly from the publishers instead of opting for any facilitators after some complaints. The decision has been taken on the direction of coordination committee, Bhopal. “Some complaints were made that despite ordering books of particular author/ course some other books were delivered. So, in the meeting it was decided that the books will be taken directly from the publishers. The checklist for the purchase of the books will be sent to the heads of the departments, so that they follow the rules while purchasing the books,” Kumar added.////Head of the department is authorized to purchase books up to Rs 20,000, for purchase of books up to Rs 1 lakh, registrar or the finance controller can be signatory authority, for purchase of books till Rs 5 lakh vice-chancellor and the cost above it will be taken up to executive council meeting.
