MP Thieves steal cash from ashram donation box

UJJAIN: Unidentified thieves broke into Sandipini Ashram in Ujjain and decamped with thousands of rupees from a donation box on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.Police said, the accused knew where the CCTVs were installed. Last time when the box was opened it had Rs 72,000.Police have registered a case of theft and attempts were on to trace the accused. Police were gathering details of people who knew about the ashram and had worked there in the past.The police were not in a position to ascertain the amount of cash stolen from the donation box, which is opened every three months. So, they cut the wires to the cameras, before breaking open the box.The matter came to light at around 3am on Saturday when security guard Makhan Chouhan heard some noise.

Chouhan alerted temple priest Roopam Vyas, who in turn called the police.CSP Jeevajiganj Nahar Singh told reporters that the accused cut the wires to the CCTV cameras, which were installed a few days ago. Police were gathering details of people who knew about the ashram and had worked there in the past.The police were not in a position to ascertain the amount of cash stolen from the donation box, which is opened every three months. Last time when the box was opened it had Rs 72,000.Police have registered a case of theft and attempts were on to trace the accused.
