HC district hospital rejoinder ‘Upgraded dist hospital must have all required facilities’

“We have only asked for the upgraded 300-bed district hospital to have proper facilities so that the patients do not have to face the same problems, which they are facing now. Indore: The state government has admitted the poor condition of Indore district hospital and hence the upgraded hospital must have all the necessary facilities for hygiene and cleanliness, the Indore bench of high court was told on Monday.This was stated in a rejoinder submitted by the petitioner in a PIL seeking better facilities at district hospital after an infant’s corpse was found covered with ants at the hospital’s mortuary two years ago.The division bench of Justice PK Jaiswal and Justice SK Awasthi has listed the case for final hearing after two weeks.In the rejoinder submitted on August 7, the petitioner has pointed out to the fact brought out before the court through state government’s reply. Proper arrangements for cleanliness, staff attendance, machinery must be made in the new hospital,” Shanno Shagufta Khan, petitioner’s counsel said.Referring to department inquiry report after the infant’s body was found covered by ants, the petitioner prayed that the report must be considered by the court since it found the doctors and nurses responsible for the incident.The petitioner prayed for the magisterial probe report to be discredited, since it was a single member inquiry whose report was submitted much after the incident.
