Indore: Dewas police have registered a case against five people, including a woman from Indore, for duping a 70-year-old woman of Rs82 lakh. The victim’s husband is a businessman and works in Saudi Arabia.The victim Hasina Bi, wife of Rafiq Ahmed, a resident of Juna Risala area of Indore, told police that she negotiated a deal with one Rajesh Gupta and his wife Pravina Gupta for purchase of a 0.87 hectare land in Mhowkheda area of Dewas district. She paid Rs 82 lakh to the Gupta couple for the land purchase deal. But, after taking the money, they refused to do the sale agreement and threatened her of dire consequences whenever she asked for the sale agreement.The land originally belonged to one Ajay Sodani, a resident of Dewas, and it was later purchased by Pravina Gupta after the victim made payment in several installments to them. Two more persons, Pravin Modi and Pradip Rawal, both resident of Newri, have also been booked in this case for their alleged involvement in the case.The police, on the basis of Hasina Bi’s complaint, have booked all the five accused under relevant sections of the IPC.During investigation, police learnt that the prime accused in the case, Rajesh and Pravina, are serving jail term in a similar case of defrauding. Rajesh and Pravina are residents of Sudama Nagar.The police have requested for production warrant for questioning the duo.
