4 tribals die of diarrhoea toll in Sheopur now 15

BHOPAL: Diarrhoea claimed the lives of four tribals in Sheopur district on Friday taking the toll to 15 in the past one month. Health workers are being sent to the villages affected by the diarrhoea ,” said Gupta.So far, the deaths were reported from Paira Silpura and Chapret villages of Vijaypur tehsil. The deaths were reported from Chaksitarampura village in Vijaypur tehsil of the district.As many as 10 deaths have been reported in the last16 days, most of them are children. Sources in the district administration said these deaths occurred during the same period when the 6 deaths were reported in the last week of August .Diarrhoea outbreak was first reported on August 30 with the death of six children in the village of Paira, about 170km away from the district headquarters. In the wake of the rising number of casualties, Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) N C Gupta has recommended testing of water being drawn from the dug wells and tube-wells in the villages where diarrhoea outbreak was reported in the past one month.“A letter has been written to the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) to conduct tests for water contamination.
