Two SIMI activists get three yearsrsquo rigorous imprisonment

During investigation, it was also found that the accused had forged documents to procure mobile phone SIM cards with fake names.The judge in his judgment had observed that the accused had dented the country’s social fabric by their actions. UJJAIN: An Ujjain court on Friday sentenced two activists of banned Student Islamic Movement of India ( SIMI ) to three years of rigorous imprisonment for promoting enmity on grounds of caste and religion and forging documents to secure mobile phone connections.Judicial magistrate first class Vivek Jain sentenced Mohd Akeel Quereshi and Mohd Shafi to three years of imprisonment under relevant sections of the IPC and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.Quereshi was arrested by Kharakuan police on July 25, 2006, when he was delivering an inflammatory speech in Madar Gate area.
