Indore: Ahead of assembly polls, district electoral office has instructed Indore Municipal Corporation, zila panchayat and other agencies concerned to ensure implementation of prevention of defacement of property act, 1994.Under the act, no advertisements, including the ones erected by political parties related to the polls, shall be allowed on the public property.In the letter, the local electoral office has asked the authorities to remove political slogans written on bridges, roads and other public property. Many posters/hoardings installed by politicians for birthday or welcome wishes for senior leaders can be seen across the city.“The rule of prevention of defacement of property is already there but during the polls, we pay special attention on its implementation as every poster/banner or advertisement erected by the political parties is counted in expenses of their respective candidate fielded in the polls from that particular area,” a senior official said.//Under its Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme, the district electoral office on Monday launched a facebook page to keep voters updated about all election related activities.Nodal officer Neha Meena said the page (https://www.facebook.com/DEOIndore/) has been created to generate public awareness regarding assembly polls and urging the voters to participate.
