Indore: Continuing its drive against litterbugs on railway station premises, officials, on Sunday caught 17 passengers for throwing garbage and spitting. “It is important that we keep railway premises clean. Our objective is not to penalize passengers for littering, but to spread the message among passengers about the importance of keeping a public place clean,” said an official. Spot fine ranging from Rs200 to Rs500 were imposed on the litterbugs,” said a railways spokesman.He said that the drive was conducted by railway protection force and ticket checking staff on main and island platforms and parking area.The drive has been initiated to keep the railway station premises, especially the platforms, clean. A total fine of Rs 3500 was collected from them.Officials said that most of the passengers, who were caught for littering, came from Penchvalley, Dr Ambedkar Nagar-Ratlam Demu, Indore-Kota Express and Indore-Gwalior Express.“The drive was conducted between 10am to 3:30pm.
