INDORE: In a drive against those dealing in drugs and selling illegal drugs to children, police have arrested 75 people under preventive action in a week.According to police, drug peddlers have become active in Indore thus making them and excise department to intensify their drive against drug smuggling and abuse.A huge quantity of cannabis and other narcotic substances are smuggled in the district despite all their efforts and schools are one of the main targets. “It is a fact that cannabis and other narcotic substances are easily available in the district and students are at the risk of getting addicted to it as the agents lure teenagers into their circle,” said DIG Harinarayanachari Mishra.He said that these people have a widespread network among other segments of the society too. At the same time, since the youngsters are at high risk of falling prey to the drug peddlers, the police are also focusing on students through campaign against drug abuse, he said.Under preventive action in this drive, police have arrested 75 people from west region and rural area. Sixteen people were arrested from Chandan Nagar, 10 from Chhatripura, nine from Raoji Bazaar and the remaining from Gandhi Nagar, Bhanwarkuan, Sadar Bazaar, Hatod, Mhow and Betma.Police said that illegal cannabis and brown sugar were also seized from the possession of the accused.
