Indore: A 13-year-old girl, who refused to stop on the road to talk to a youth, was stabbed multiple times by him in Jawar area of Khandwa district on Wednesday. The spurned youth then turned the knife on himself. The girl sustained injuries on her hands, stomach and neck.“Some schoolmates found the victim lying on the ground in a pool of blood and rushed her home from where we took her to hospital. We also informed the police, who registered a case against the accused,” Mangal Solanki, the girl’s uncle, told TOI.The incident took place in Lalawada village when the girl, a Class VIII student, was on way to school. The 22-year-old accused, Chotu alias Pritam, a daily wage labourer of the area, called out to her and asked her to speak to him. When she did not stop, he got angry and stabbed her on the torso.Jawar police station in charge Kailash Phanse said that soon after the incident a team was formed to arrest the accused. Khandwa SP Ruchi Mishra told TOI that both of them had been admitted to hospital and the accused was arrested after treatment.“Chotu attacked her because she refused to speak to him. Prima facie it appears to be a case of one-sided love. We are investigating all angles in the case. We are yet to record the girl’s statement,” said the SP.
