Indore: A group of people looted a Sarafa trader and attacked him brutally in Malharganj area late on Tuesday.The trader, Rohit Thakur, told police that he was returning home after shutting his shop at Sarafa around 9:30 pm when the incident took place.The accused Rahul Thakur alias Lara, Badal Thakur, Ankit Sharma, Antim Sharma, Mayank Sharma and Prem Sharma were already present on the spot when Rohit reached Parmanand Hospital square near his home. They pushed him off his bike and then thrashed him before allegedly making away with his phone, a gold chain and Rs 15,000 cash Soon after the incident, a large number of people reached Malharganj police station and demanded strict action against the accused. “Rahul is an infamous goon of the area and even after complaining against him several times, police did not do anything,” the locals told reporters.Malharganj police station in charge Sanjay Mishra said that a case was registered against the accused for thrashing the trader, but, it was a part of investigation whether he was looted or not.Police said that the accused told police that Rohit and his friends had been continuously demanding money from them for Ganesh Pandal. This was the reason behind the fight.“We have registered a case and further investigation is on,” said Mishra.
