Indore: The three probe teams sent to the Choral range will not only investigate the fresh cases of tree felling, but, the incidents in which cases have been registered and action has been taken by forest department since January 2018.The teams have been sent to the range following the incident of tree cutting reported at the jungles recently. The three reports will be sent by the teams to Barwaha divisional forest officer ML Harit.“The teams have been asked to do their part and the process has started. The movement of the teams in Choral is being monitored by DFO Indore,” Harit said.

Indore: The three probe teams sent to the Choral range will not only investigate the fresh cases of tree felling, but, the incidents in which cases have been registered and action has been taken by forest department since January 2018.The teams have been sent to the range following the incident of tree cutting reported at the jungles recently. Among the cases registered from January to September in the region, maximum number of incidents happened during the strike of forest guards and rangers, in May and June.In April, a case was registered against a company, which was awarded a contract for laying underground electric lines through the forest area. The contractor company was granted permission for cutting trees in a width of 10 metre, whereas the company cut the trees for a width of 15 metre. The 200 trees cut were of all varieties including sagwan, sheesham, anjan and others.On May 29, when the strike of forest workers was in progress, a case was registered against unknown persons by the SDO for encroachment at Choral.On July 2, a case was registered against five people who were responsible for cutting sagon trees, whereas in August first week, another case was registered at Gwalu village of Choral against unknown persons for cutting 20 sagon trees.The investigation team will also explore the action taken by the department against the perpetrators and department officials or workers for negligence. The inspection teams will also look at how further the areas can be protected from increasing cases of encroachment and tree felling.
