Indore: The 16-year-old youth, who was shot in the head by accused Salim Langda in Khandwa on Monday night, is battling for his life at MY Hospital and underwent an operation on Tuesday.“His condition is critical, and he is under observation. They were able to remove the bullet in an operation which went on for several hours,” said Ruchi Mishra, superintendent of police (SP), Khandwa.Salim, who is reportedly the ganglord of the area and has over 20 cases registered against him had gone to Gulshan Nagar on Monday to shoot Monu, a 20-year-old guy with whom he had old enmity.He, however, ended up shooting Monu’s friend Salman, resident of Ram Nagar, after spotting him in the area.“The accused had gone to the place with an intention to kill Monu but when he did not find him he fired shot at Salman,” said Mishra.The locals claimed that the accused is an infamous goon of the area and even after complaining several times, police have not been able to take any action against him.“He roams around with a mouser in his hands and is the kingpin of many gangs. He is famous for betting and gambling rackets that he operates from the city,” said a resident.Police officials said that his arrest in an attempted murder case was pending and a reward of Rs 10,000 was already declared on him but after the incident, police have intensified the search operation.“We have announced Rs 30,000 as a reward on any information about the accused,” said Mishra.
