Kalawati Bhuria is an outsider for us and does not know the area well," Sulochana Rawat, former MLA from Jobat said. Only that will prove whether Congress has been able to contain discontent.Dubey's words didn't match with things on the ground in Jhabua and Alirajpur. Asked if there were any reports of protests or rebellion within the party, state media vice-president Abhay Dubey said: "No. Rebels burnt effigies of Kantilal Bhuria and Digvijaya Singh in Jhabua, demanding that Javier Meda get the ticket. Meda, who was in Delhi when the protests took place, claimed that the list would be changed and he would get the ticket.

BHOPAL/INDORE: Congress too is seeing ripples of discontent after release of the first and second list of candidates, but it has managed to keep a lid on it so far - better than BJP, at least.Going by the tradition of faction-ridden Congress in Madhya Pradesh, rebellion and protests over ticket distribution were expected, but the leadership has managed to keep the flock together, barring sporadic protests in Sendhva and Barwani. The most intense protests were in Jhabua and Alirajpur, where Congress workers protested against tickets to Kantilal Bhuria's son Vikrant Bhuria from Jhabua and niece Kalawati Bhuria from Jobat. In the evening, three to four persons stopped Rajya Sabha MP Ghulam Nabi Azad when he was coming out of the party headquarters. They demanded that Sironj candidate Ashok Tyagi be replaced. Tyagi got the ticket at the cost of sitting MLA Govardhan Upadhyay. Asked if there were any reports of protests or rebellion within the party, state media vice-president Abhay Dubey said: "No. There is tremendous enthusiasm in the party rank and file because tickets have been given to right persons. Besides, the first list contains only names on which there is no dispute." However, party sources said that the real test is the second list. Only that will prove whether Congress has been able to contain discontent.Dubey's words didn't match with things on the ground in Jhabua and Alirajpur. Rebels burnt effigies of Kantilal Bhuria and Digvijaya Singh in Jhabua, demanding that Javier Meda get the ticket. Meda, who was in Delhi when the protests took place, claimed that the list would be changed and he would get the ticket. "I am loyal to the party and will not contest independently. I am sure party leaders will reconsider their decision to give the ticket to Vikrant Bhuria. Last year, too, Kalawati Bhuria was initially given the ticket, but the party leadership changed their mind and gave it to me," Meda told TOI.In Jobat constituency, where Kalawati Bhuria has been given the ticket, the Rawat family that has contested the previous three elections decided to pitch Vishal Rawat against Kalawati as a JAYS candidate."My son Vishal has been working in Jobat for five years. Our connect with people is strong right down to booth level. Kalawati Bhuria is an outsider for us and does not know the area well," Sulochana Rawat, former MLA from Jobat said.
