The pilgrim misbehaved with the staff and attempted to force his way into the sanctum sanctorum,” Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple Management Committee administrator Abhishek Dubey said. “The order only restricts photography near the sanctum sanctorum,” he said.Meanwhile, Mahakal police has been investigating the matter. “We have received the complaint and the matter is being examined,” Mahakal police station in-charge Rakesh Modi said.

The temple authorities have also submitted a complaint with the Mahakal police station against the pilgrim.Ruckus ensued in the temple when devotees saw personnel of security staff pulling a pilgrim out of the crowd and thrashing him. He was later pushed out of the Nandi Hall by policemen posted in the temple.“Entry into the sanctum sanctorum for the general public was not allowed on Wednesday. The pilgrim misbehaved with the staff and attempted to force his way into the sanctum sanctorum,” Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple Management Committee administrator Abhishek Dubey said. He lodged a complaint with the Mahakal police station and provided an identity card that apparently fell off the pilgrim during the scuffle.Videos of the scuffle went viral on social media, prompting the temple administration to clamp down on any kind of photography beyond the first barricade of the temple.Temple management committee chairman and district collector Manish Singh said the move was made to prevent any discomfort to the devotees. “The order only restricts photography near the sanctum sanctorum,” he said.Meanwhile, Mahakal police has been investigating the matter. “We have received the complaint and the matter is being examined,” Mahakal police station in-charge Rakesh Modi said.
