Congress acts tough expels 16 rebels for six years

BHOPAL: Taking disciplinary action against rebels Congress on Saturday expelled 16 party leaders — including three former MLAs — for six years for filng candidature as independents.Among those expelled are three-term MLA from Jobat assembly constituency and former minister Sulochana Rawat and her son Vishal Rawat. Congress has given ticket to Kalawati Bhuria — the niece of Member of Parliament Kantilal Bhuria, from Jobat this time. She has fought as independent in 2013.The party has expelled Xavier Meda, a former MLA who has filed nomination as an independent candidate.

Corporator from Ujjain, Maya Trivedi, Jai Singh Darbar from Ujjain, former MLA from Mandala Tulsiram Dhumketi, Savitri Dhumketi and Ashok Dixit have also faced the disciplinary action.From Burhanpur, Congress has expelled rebel Surendra Singh who has a stronghold in Khandwa Lok Sabha constituency. Congress rebels from Agar Malwa seat, Rana Vikram Singh, Rana Natwar Singh, Lokendra Singh, Madhu Gehlot have also been expelled.Hamir Singh Rathore who is contesting as an independent from Jawra seat, has been expelled from the party. Similarly, Samandar Patel contesting as independent from Jawad has been expelled, besides, Toofan Singh and Om Singh Bhati from Mandsaur.
