Mhow: Indore district panchayat has issued notices to secretaries and former sarpanchs of 12 gram panchayats in Mhow tehsil for recovery of funds allotted to them for construction of school buildings but not spent on the work.Janpad panchayat official said, district panchayat had allocated funds to 12 panchayats for construction of classrooms in government schools under their jurisdictions between 2007 and 2013.An inquiry was initiated in embezzlement of funds on complaint of a Khurdi panchayat villager. During investigation officials learnt that Rs 1.11 lakh were withdrawn for construction work by then sarpanch Chagan Osari and secretary Dilip Robert but, the fund was not used for it.Later, officials found that sarpanch and secretaries of Kalikiray, Tihi Baai, Mangliya, Yashwantnagar, Maindal, Kakariya, Simrol and three other panchayats were also involved in misappropriation of funds for the construction work.Mhow janpad panchayat CEO Mukesh Jain maintained that the district panchayat had issued recovery notices against sarpanch and secretaries of 12 gram panchayat for embezzlement of funds.Indore district panchayat CEO Neha Meena said recovery notices were issued after it was confirmed that the funds issued for the construction work were withdrawn but not spent.
