Indore: Congress on Sunday accused PM Narendra Modi of bringing down the standard of political debates in the country by making personal statements against previous Prime Ministers and sought a public apology from him.“Since Modi is Prime Minister and the other two (Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi) were PMs, he should not insult their memories and seek an apology from the country. They were elected PMs of the country,” Congress MP Anand Sharma said. The former Union minister was referring to Modi addressing Rahul Gandhi as ‘naamdar (dynast)’ and accusing Congress of dynastic politics during a public rally in Chhindwara earlier during the day. The PM does not have the knowledge of economics or history, he said claiming that Modi insulted Pt Jawaharlal Nehru. “He (Nehru) was a frontline leader, follower of Mahatma Gandhi. Sardar Patel was also ours. He was also president of Indian national Congress, Subhash Chandra Bose was also INC president, Mahatma Gandhi was also INC president,” the Congress leader claimed.“After 26-27 years of assassination of Rajiv Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi has come to the forefront. Where is dynastic politics?” Sharma asked.Taking a dig at BJP, Sharma asked, “What jewel have they elected? Amit Shah ? What have they elected? You are trying to give us advice? Let PM do some introspection.” I regret that PM is pulling down the standard of political dialogue and insulting people’s intellect.”Sharma said Modi also accused Congress of promoting terrorism. “Congress has participated in national struggles not only after independence, even before that. Two of our PMs have been martyred to terrorism,” he said.
