INDORE: AICC general secretary Digvijaya Singh , so far the backroom manager in this election, came out all guns blazing in Indore on Sunday, daring chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to a debate on comparison of development during his tenure and BJP’s.From PM Narendra Modi and party chief Amit Shah to Uma Bharti and Chouhan, every BJP leader has gone hammer and tongs at Digvijaya, reminding people of the “dark days” under him.On Sunday, Digvijaya hit back. “Digvijaya’s 10-year-rule and BJP’s 15-year-rule are always compared. I challenge Shivraj Singh Chouhan to come with me on stage, let us debate on my 10 years and your 15 years if you have the courage,” the former CM said while campaigning for Congress candidates in Indore-3 and Indore-4 constituencies.He took a dig at Chouhan for not increasing the pension of elderly. “It was Rs 300 when I was CM. It’s still the same,” he said.Digvijaya asked BJP to name any one scheme he implemented that was not for the welfare of Madhya Pradesh. “Since the NDA government was in power during my tenure, funds were not given properly to the state. However, it was Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s good fortune that he got a Prime Minister like Manmohan Singh who restored the financial system of the entire country and gave four times the amount for development work and welfare,” Singh said.He claimed that the CM’s wife and son were facing arguments from residents in Budhni. “It won’t come as a surprise if Shivraj Singh Chouhan loses in Budhni,” the former CM said.Targeting the BJP government on the Vyapam scam, he said: “A poor man’s child could not become doctor or engineer because of Vyapam scam. Only those who had money could get their children into government jobs and make them doctors. This government has a record of corruption in a whole lot of things, from e-tendering scam and arbitrary contracts to even nutritious food to children.” He took on Narendra Modi and Amit Shah on notebandi, saying the “Gujarat ki jodi looted the country through demonetization”.
