Traffic drive Dec 9 Over 1K people caught for traffic violation in a day

They have been assigned to target people for violations like riding two-wheeler without helmet, triple riding and vehicles with faulty number plates. Each team had eight policemen, including a subedar and an ASI.ASP (traffic) Mahendra Kumar Jain said that the drive was meant to generate awareness among people regarding traffic rules. “We have been instructed to conduct extensive drive across the city and action is taken against people for every violation of traffic rules,” he said.Sources said that the drive was conducted to meet revenue target. Indore: City traffic police on Sunday caught 1150 people for violating traffic rules and a total amount of Rs2.70 lakh was collected from them.Nine teams were stationed at several locations to take action on the spot for traffic violations, including riding two-wheeler without helmet, triple riding and driving vehicles with incomplete documents.“Most of the people were caught for riding two-wheeler without helmet. Traffic cops have also been given a target to issue at least 50 challans per day.This target has been given to personnel at the level of ASI and above, who are authorised to issue challan to people for violating traffic rules.

A few people were also penalized for triple riding, faulty registration plates, using mobile phone while driving and driving without licence,” said officials.While the drive was conducted at Chanakyapuri, Collectorate, Mhow Naka, Raj Mohalla, Gangwal in west part of the city, in the east, cops were deployed at Radisson square, Madhu Milan, Vijay Nagar and Dewas Naka.
