INDORE: For a day when every vote matters, Indore district election office has received only 17.75% of the 1,498 Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot System (ETPBS) of service voters for counting. It is as high as 97% for the 16,344 postal ballots issued to the government employees registered as electors in the district’s voters’ list.As per the official records, Dr Ambedkar Nagar (Mhow) Constituency has maximum 638 service voters followed by Indore-I(229), Sanwer (195), Indore-II (135), Depalpur (76), Indore-V (70), Rau (66), Indore-III (53) and Indore-IV(36) voters. Most of them are serving in the Army and are posted at borders. These voters were sent postal ballots through ETPBS while their votes will return through posts.The election office has so far received 266 ETPBS votes. Besides, the authority had issued as many as 16,344 postal ballots to the employees, who were deployed in the election work, to cast their votes at two centres erected in the district.The authority has so far received 15,869 postal ballots while those who chose to send their votes through posts are expected to be received by the authority by 7:59am of Tuesday as thereafter, the votes will not be valid.All the postal ballots have been kept in the district collectorate’s treasury and will be transported to the counting tables in Nehru Stadium at 6:30am on Tuesday.“Before counting of postal ballots begins, the counting officials will preverify it at three levels. The postal ballots received through posts are kept in three envelops and each of them has a barcode to verify its legality. The verified postal ballots will only be counted,” said ADM Kailash Wankhede.
