INDORE: Now stay fit and healthy and keep diseases at bay by availing popular treatment like cupping, leech and agni moksha therapy at district hospital for free.The Ayush wing of hospital has launched these rare and expensive therapies for the public, which often proves to be too costly for aam admi’s pocket.The two therapies are available without any additional fee. “To provide more to people, wing has come up with cupping, leech and agni moksha therapy, which are not easily available in the city and are very expensive to avail. Since it is a government-run centre, the services are available free of cost,” said Dr Sheetal Solanki, head of the wing.“We have also started treatment for piles and anal fistula through anorectal surgery with Ayurveda medicines,” Dr Solanki told to TOI.Cupping, a medical practice where cups are place on parts of the body to create suction effect which raises the skin and draws blood to the surface, is used to treat pain, swelling inflammation, migraine, bronchitis , and common cold . “These therapies do not have any side-effects and are better than allopathy for several diseases,” Dr Solanki said.Leech therapy is also in demand as it helps in controlling blood pressure. “Once the leeches attach and cut through the skin with 300-chitin tiny teeth the saliva enters the bite site, they cure the disease present in the individual,” said Dr Bakhtyar Ashrafi, doctor in the wing.“Since the therapy helps in widening the vessel walls, it helps normalize blood pressure of hypertensive individuals as well as minimizes risk of stroke and heart attack,” he added.Through Ayurveda medicines the wing has also started treatment of mentally retarded children, asthma, arthritis, joint pain and epilepsy. “The wing has not just stuck to the treatment that most Ayurveda centres do. Here we have wide variety of treatment for diseases which cannot be cured even through allopathy. Through Shirodhara, we have cured many mentally retarded children and asthma diseases,” Dr Ashrafi told to TOI.
