INDORE: The city-based school principals consider it the right time to include Artificial Intelligence (AI) as an optional skill subject for school students, however, they differ with the idea of classes that have been selected for introducing the subject.Central Board of Secondary Education ( CBSE ) has included Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a skill subject for Classes 8, 9 and 10. From the coming academic session, the subject will be included in the curriculum as an optional subject While some of the CBSE school principals think that the senior classes will be perfect to start with the subject, others think that the subject should be included from middle classes.“It is the right time that they are introducing artificial intelligence in the curriculum as a subject. This has started in senior classes and it will gradually come down to the lower classes. Even the small kids use mobile phones. But, I think it should be included in the curriculum of students from Class 6 as the concept takes time,” said principal of Annie Besant School and chairman of Indore Sahodaya Schools Complex, Mohit Yadav. The subject is important as the world is going towards the artificial intelligence-based things, he added.“Knowledge is open now as everything is available on the internet.

In times to come as technology is advancing, AI is taking central position,” said principal of Golden International School, Reena Khurana.AI concedes a machine the ability to think, learn and perform tasks much like humans, tasks which require human intelligence and understanding like audio-visual or decision-making skills. The students should have the understanding along with the basic concept of the AI, therefore, middle-class will be right to be added as a subject, said principal of Vidya Bhavan Public School, Jaydeb Kar.
