A kathak evening dedicated to gurus

Four artists of Indore performed Kathak in its pure classical form. Rajat Pawar’s performance was dedicated to Suresh Takwalkar of Pune and Raagini Makkhar of Indore while Damyanti Miradwal was a student of senior Kathak danseuse Suchitra Harmalkar. Among them were Ragini Naagar, Rajat Pawar, Damyanti Miradwal and Sapna Namdeo.While Naagar is a student of Pune’s noted Kathak dancer Kshama Bhate , Sapna Namdeo dedicated her performance to Jai Kishan maharaj her teacher. Dedicating their art and talent to their Gurus, Kathak dancers of the city mesmerized the dance lovers of Indore on Wednesday at a show ‘Samarpan’ held at Pritamlal Dua auditorium. The dancers performed both the technical expertise of the art form on beats and the story telling part of it through devotional themes.
