Choral FIR Jan 14 Day after canal breach, water resources dept lodges FIR

So, it could be a mischief of some people, who were demanding to stop the canal water till January-end. Mhow: Water resources department has filed an FIR against unidentified people for damaging Choral canal near Malendi village late on Sunday.Millions of gallons of water meant for agriculture were wasted because of a breach in the canal on Sunday. Water from the canal started flowing downward from the breach. Announcer in the train had already announced about the water flow, so, the passengers were eagerly waiting for it. They directed valvemen at Choral and Nakheri dams to close channel gates at both the places.

Mhow: Water resources department has filed an FIR against unidentified people for damaging Choral canal near Malendi village late on Sunday.Millions of gallons of water meant for agriculture were wasted because of a breach in the canal on Sunday. While farmers in the nearby areas were worst-affected, the breach turned out to be a boon for picnickers, who reached Patalpaini waterfall as water flowed like rainy days.The wall of more than 41-km-long canal broke and fell on rear side of Malendi village with a thud. Water from the canal started flowing downward from the breach. A huge crowd gathered on road after they saw water gushing down from the canal.The department officials reached the spot after two hours when they received information about the incident. They directed valvemen at Choral and Nakheri dams to close channel gates at both the places. Even after the gates were closed at both dams, water kept flowing through the breakage for more than two hours.Passengers on heritage train were surprised to monsoon-like waterfall in the area. Announcer in the train had already announced about the water flow, so, the passengers were eagerly waiting for it. When the train reached Tantya Bheel station, a large number of them reached selfie-point and took selfies with the waterfall.SDO (water resources) Shrikant Bhawsar told TOI that the wall of the canal was very strong at the point, where it broke on Sunday. So, it could be a mischief of some people, who were demanding to stop the canal water till January-end.
