INDORE: The state-wide measles-rubella (MR) vaccination drive, which was officially started by health minister Tulsiram Silawat on Wednesday, has hit some roadblocks in achieving 100 per cent target as some schools have refused to participate due to fear of side-effects from the medicines.“We have a target to cover around 10 lakh children under the drive and of this, around 70 per cent are studying in the schools. The department is hopeful to achieve target of around 10 lakh vaccination in given time-limit of five weeks,” the CMHO said.Children from nine months to 15 years and are studying in anganwadis to Class X, are being immunized.“Children are future of this country and we should ensure that they are healthy and disease-free. To make it possible, we need support from all section of the society,” Silawat said while inaugurating the statewide drive at Vidyasagar School.During the programme, former minister Rameshwar Patel, divisional commissioner Raghwendra Singh, director of national health mission Nishant Warwade, collector Lokesh Jatav and representatives of different communities and organizations were present. The minister also participated in MR vaccination camp organized in Jamia Riyazul Uloom Madrasa in Khajrana and Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1 near Radio Colony.
