Dr Ansari found at fault in departmental inquiry

Indore: On basis of departmental inquiry report, MGM Medical College on Friday has decided to take action against Dr Arif Ahmed Ansari, who is accused of referring a patient to his private nursing home from MY Hospital.MGM has issued notice to stop his upcoming promotion and appraisals while health department has issued notice for licence cancellation of Dr Ansari’s private nursing home Medicare for medical negligence.Dr Ansari is accused for referring a patient to his private nursing home Medicare from MY Hospital and later conducted a surgery after which patient’s condition deteriorated in May, 2018.MGM conducted a departmental inquiry against Dr Ansari by constituting a committee of two professors around a month back.MGM dean Dr Jyoti Bindal said the report found negligence on part of Dr Ansari for which we have issued notice to stop his upcoming promotion and appraisals, while health department has issued a notice for licence cancellation of Dr Ansari’s private nursing home Medicare for medical negligence.Dr Ansari said, “I accept the committee’s decision and will cooperate with officials.”A complaint was received from a man alleging that his 21-year-old daughter was admitted to MY Hospital for surgery. However, Dr Ansari had asked him to take his daughter to his private nursing home.Shambhu Agarwal, father of the patient, said that she was taken to MY Hospital after she had complained of severe stomach ache. “We met Dr Ansari on May 25 at MYH. He told us that my daughter had gall bladder stones and needed an operation but suggested against getting her operated at MYH because of lack of facilities,” said Agarwal.The girl was admitted at the hospital on May 30 and operated the next day. She was shifted to a private ward, where her condition started deteriorating in the evening.
