Indore: One cybercrime is happening in India every 10 seconds and businesses need to adopt a predictive strategy to protect data and infrastructure from cyberattacks, said cyber security expert Rakshit Tandon.Addressing entrepreneurs, Tandon said, “It is must that owner of the company should use only his credentials for creating website or email for business purposes and a third party should not be engaged for main registrations.”For small scale enterprises that could not afford to spend much on security, Tandon said, “All identity should have two-step verification and email registration should be done on a good server.”Companies should also follow a data restriction policy that only restricted computers should be opening and accessing owners or primary emails.Official email should not be allowed to open on any unregistered devices, the expert said.Tandon was in Indore to address entrepreneurs in an event conducted by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on Friday.He said that firms should keep a regular check on organization data and differentiate between crucial and normal data.“A company should always keep crucial data restricted to only key owners for better security,” Tandon said.Addressing the gathering, Tandon suggested that banking accounts, details and credentials should never be passed or shared with anybody.For frequent travellers, cyber expert suggested that such owners should make a kitty account that can be used for making urgent payments and details can be shared with a trusted person.As an owner, primary bank account should always be handled by a single hand.Answering queries from participants, Tandon said in age of social media, owner’s credentials should always be used for creating accounts on social media.Clean devices with security software should be used for carrying financial transactions.Cyber security consultant advised never to give permission to any app to read messages on phone and always use authorized software.Tandon also suggested that before selling mobile phone, factory setting must be done at least 3 times.
