Schoolboy dies, 12 injured as tanker rams van in Dhar

INDORE: Spooked by a traffic checkpoint, a tanker driver barrelled into oncoming traffic at a crossroads in Dhar on Friday morning, crushing a school van and killing a 16-year-old student. The truck rammed the side of the van, ferrying students of Ideal Public School of Dhar, causing it to overturn. At least 12 schoolkids were injured.The accident brought back spine-chilling memories of the DPS bus tragedy of January 2018 in which six schoolkids and the driver had died. "I had received complaints about his action after which he was suspended," said Singh.Ironically, the Dhar accident took place when police were observing road safety week and conducting checks on Indore-Ahmedabad Road. Passersby pulled the injured kids out of the mangled wreckage and rushed them to a local hospital even as chaos broke out at the accident site.

Locals allege that traffic cops fled the scene after the accident. SP Birendra Singh suspended ASI Kailash Pansuriya.
