Indore: Hair restoration experts are trying out a new way to increase hair growth amongst bald people. Experts said in each ml blood unit, there are around 1.5 lakh platelets that play a major role in hair growth. Once platelets are increased to around 10 lakh, it will help patient in hair growth.According to experts, a research was conducted in which 1ml blood was taken from patient and its platelets were separated. Platelets were increased and the same is injected in patient’s scalp.In the research, it was found that without any medication or surgery, there was increase in hair growth. This new way of increasing hair growth is easier and has no side effects and since blood is taken from the same person, there is no chance of infection and no donor is needed for it.Dr Shuken Dashore, hair restoration expert, who conducted the research, said, “The new way of treatment is named as platelets rich plasma. This concentration of PRP is taken from patient’s own blood is injected into the scalp to promote hair growth. However, the treatment is successful only in those, who are partially bald and do not smoke or drink.”He added, “This treatment is better for youngsters as deficiency is fulfilled in platelets and body itself increases hair growth. Patient has to go under multiple sitting each of 45 minutes. Usually hair transplant and other medical treatment costs over Rs 1lakh, however, in this, each sitting costs Rs 3000.”Association of Hair Restoration Surgeons in India has decided to conduct a special session in which hair restoration surgeries conducted by experts will be telecast live in all medical colleges for PG students, who are studying cosmetology and dermatology so that they can get an practical experience and can learn about new and updated technology used by surgeons in the country.
