Indore: Congress leaders on Wednesday objected over naming of local government-run public transport company after former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee alleging that it was violation of the Companies Act.“Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) had registered Indore City Transport Services Limited under Section 149 (3) of the Companies Act, 1956, on January 12, 2005. Now, a question arises that how a semi-government department (IMC), which is controlled by the government, can registered a company and how can it name the company after a former Prime Minister,” Congress state spokesperson (media panelist) and advocate Pramod Kumar Dwivedi said.He said that Vajpayee, who was a mass leader and respected by all, should be remembered by naming bridge, road, airport, school, college by the government only. But his name can’t be used to name a private company.“During demonetization, a private company had used photograph of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in its advertisement. Later, the company was fined since it can’t use name or photograph of a person holding constitutional post for its benefit. Similarly, IMC will have answer why has it named a private transport company after Vajpayee,” Dwivedi said.He demanded IMC to apologize for it. He has also urged state government to take appropriate action in the matter. “Atalji’s name can be used for government schemes in his memory, but not for the private company,” the Congress leader said.
