Indore: Woman entrepreneurs in Indore are increasingly expanding businesses at international levels but lacks exposure to intellectual property rights (IPR).MSME assistant director Nilesh Trivedi said, “Woman entrepreneurs are rising and expanding business nationally and internationally. Lack of awareness about IPR takes a big toll when products get copied in market.”WIA founder Shreshtha Goyal said, “We hope that more entrepreneurs will pursue IPR tool by raising awareness and simplification in process of filing IPR.” I deal with health supplements and allopathic drugs, where IPR plays an important role.”Around 50 woman entrepreneurs attended the session and raised questions about tools and mechanism to file for IPR.Anjana Khandelwal, a supplier of biodiesel said, “Women entrepreneurs fail to expand business due to financial constraints and failing to secure products. If a product gets hit within no time a copy product surfaces in market letting actual developer lose its identity in absence of IPR.”Industry experts said that with rising awareness, facilitation by government and reforms, ownership for IPR may increase.Kavita Sabarwal, a pharmaceutical manufacturer said, “I have around 2 patent and over 30 trade mark. But tools of IPR are not being extensively used that will double their business benefits.”Trivedi was addressing a seminar on SME listing and Intellectual property rights (IPR) organized by Women Industrial association (WIA) on Saturday.According to experts, from Madhya Pradesh just about 13-14 patents are filled in years.Trivedi said, “SME gets additional power with IPR, as you can retain your ownership in international market without bothering about duplication.
