40 auto drivers illegally enter station booked

INDORE: The railways on Tuesday launched a surprise checking drive against auto-rickshaw drivers entering on premises of city railway station As many as 40 auto-rickshaw drivers were caught on the station premises during the drive, which was conducted jointly by Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP) and railway magistrate.Passengers were complaining about illegal entry of auto-rickshaw drivers on the station premises. Passengers complained that the drivers blocked their way when they going out of the station and behaved rudely with many of them,” said Indore RPF station in charge JR Yadav. Passengers have to suffer because of unauthorized entry of the auto-rickshaw drivers,” a food stall owner at the station Mukesh said.Station officials said that the drivers were illegally entering inside the railway station premises and causing inconvenience to passengers.“The auto-rickshaw drivers, who were caught, have been charged with unauthorized canvassing, trespassing and flouting railways norms by illegally entering at platforms. Some of them even complained on Twitter forcing authorities to launch a drive against errant auto-rickshaw drivers.“Despite running regular checking drives, officials were not been able to solve the problem. They were booked under Section 145(B) of the Railways Act 1989 for causing nuisance and Section 147 for trespassing into railway territory,” they said.Officials said that a few passengers travelling late on Sunday had complained to RPF officials about the drivers calling them and behaving rudely with them.“The practice was rampant at island platform.
