Indore: Indore is set to become the epicentre of domestic cricketing action for next couple of days with three matches of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy scheduled in city on Thursday.Indoreans would get an opportunity to see the big boys of Indian cricket — Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara — battle it on out in Holkar Stadium and Emerald Heights cricket ground.Railways will take on Saurashtra in the first match of the day in Holkar Stadium. However, the treat of the day will be the home team, MP taking on Punjab. The match is likely to see a classy battle of bat and ball — veteran Yuvraj’s chicness with the willow against the Indore’s ‘speedy’ young pacer Avesh Khan — which is set to be the clash to relish for Indore cricket lovers, who are likely to face the dilemma of supporting their state against Punjab with their favourite Indian players. In the other game of Group C, heavyweight Mumbai take on minnows Sikkim in Emerald Heights ground, which is the place to be if you are Ajinkya Rahane fan.The 2019 edition of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy is set to be fitting prelude to Indian Premier League. With IPL and World Cup to follow, the tournament will provide the perfect opportunity for both youngsters and veterans to advocate their candidacy to selectors. The 10th edition of the tournament will see 37 teams divided into five groups playing for the top spot. 140 matches will be played in the tournament. (See Page 15)
