Indore: To ensure that doctors of MY Hospital stick to their duty timings, MGM medical college management has decided to install biometric machines and CCTVs in all departments of OPD building.According to MGM officials, biometric machines will be connected with doctor’s salary sheets so that if doctors get late or try to leave early, their salary will be cut accordingly. There are around nine departments in the OPD building including dermatology, orthopaedic, medicine, surgery, gynaecology, chest and TB, psychiatry, ENT and ophthalmology which has around 150 doctors, PG students, senior and junior resident doctors.The OPD also includes radio diagnosis and laboratories that support departments for clinical procedures. There are more than 300 doctors in OPD every day. More than 1800 people are treated during OPD hours.MGM dean Dr Jyoti Bindal said they have received several complaints about doctors being late on duty at OPD. “Recently during an inspection, I too found that doctors were not present on their seats. To ensure that they are performing their duties properly, biometric machines are being installed,” she said.She said each department will have a biometric machine, which will be linked to doctor’s salary account, so that if a doctor gets late, his salary will get cut.Dr Bindal said the motive of the college is to streamline health services of MY Hospital. The actual time of entry for a doctor is 8:30 am, which continues till 1:30pm.MGM spokesperson Dr Rahul Rokade said, “Recently, divisional commissioner has directed college management to improve services of OPD by starting biometrics and e-hospital system so that patients do not have to wait for admission slips. The biometric system will be started within a week while e-hospital system is under construction and will be launched soon.”
