Two tower parking lots are in pipeline to resolve traffic woes

Indore: Continuing with its drive to end parking menace in city, Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) will set up mechanized tower parking lots in busy areas. “Tower parking lots are designed in a manner that it allows automatic parking or un-parking of vehicles. Two such parking lots have been planned in Yeshwant Ganj and Smart city area at an estimate cost of Rs3 crore. “A single parking lot of this kind can be constructed and operated within 1500-2000 sq ft,” he said. “The agency engaged in this project will look after operations and maintenance of parking lot for three years,” they said.

Two such parking lots have been planned in Yeshwant Ganj and Smart city area at an estimate cost of Rs3 crore. The first parking lot will have a maximum capacity of 200 vehicles while the other one has been proposed to accommodate 50 vehicles.Civic body officials said they are also working on improving existing parking lots in city. These new parking lots will be designed in the most hi-tech way. “Tower parking lots are designed in a manner that it allows automatic parking or un-parking of vehicles. It is suitable option for public convenience especially in dense traffic areas. They are designed as per vertical and horizontal column,” they said.Mahesh Sharma, an official with Indore Smart City Development Ltd said that these lots would work on hydraulic system with multiple levels to accommodate maximum vehicles in limited space. “A single parking lot of this kind can be constructed and operated within 1500-2000 sq ft,” he said. He said that first parking lot would be built in Yeshwant Ganj. “This would be a pilot project in city. Similar parking lots would be planned in other busy areas of the city on basis of feasibility of this project,” he said, adding that the facility would be developed under public private partnership (PPP) model.IMC officials said that they expect to develop this facility within a year. “The agency engaged in this project will look after operations and maintenance of parking lot for three years,” they said.
