A sudden death makes MGM extend help to stressed doctors

INDORE: MGM Medical College authorities seem to have been shaken by the death of Chhindwara medical college dean Dr Haroon Khizir Taqi Raza due to cardiac arrest on Thursday. College will bear the cost.”There are over 330 professors in MGM and over 450 junior doctors at MY Hospital. After he slept, he suffered from cardiac arrest. Dr Raza, dean of Chhindwara Medical College and an acclaimed doctor of Jabalpur, died of cardiac arrest in Nagpur on Thursday morning at the age of 60. “We are planning to conduct check-up on holiday so that all doctors and professors are free and available,” she said.

So much so that the stirred management has decided to conduct regular health check-up for all medical college and MY Hospital doctors to ensure that they are not under stress.MGM dean Dr Jyoti Bindal said, “Usually it is found that doctors and medical college faculty are under stress due to overload of work. While taking care of patients around them, doctors often ignore their own health.”She added, “To ensure that even doctors are healthy and are not under stress, we have planned to conduct health check-up every six months or on yearly basis. College will bear the cost.”There are over 330 professors in MGM and over 450 junior doctors at MY Hospital. Even a recent study conducted by Indian Medical Association claimed that doctors die at early age than normal people and most of them died due to cardiovascular disease Dr Bindal said, “Usually we have seen that due to sudden work pressure, doctors can also suffer from hypertension or cardiac arrest. We have decided that no professor or college employee will be asked to do work within short time span.”Management is yet to decide the date and place of the check-up. “We are planning to conduct check-up on holiday so that all doctors and professors are free and available,” she said. Dr Raza, dean of Chhindwara Medical College and an acclaimed doctor of Jabalpur, died of cardiac arrest in Nagpur on Thursday morning at the age of 60. A resident of 105, North Civil Lines , Ghanta Ghar, reached home after the meeting for MCI inspection on Wednesday night. After he slept, he suffered from cardiac arrest. He was rushed to district hospital for primary treatment and was then taken to Nagpur. He died during treatment there.
