NATRAX likely to see 10 more auto giants by December

INDORE: NATRAX (National Automotive Test Tracks) facility in Pithampur is expecting over 10 new automobile giants using the facility in 2019-20 as high-speed test track is likely to get completed by December coupled with series of technological advancements.NATRAX has been set up in Pithampur under NATRiP project. NATRiP Indore additional director and site head Dr N Karuppaiah said, “We expect 15 new customers to add to our clientele in FY 2019/20. One of the participants, Professor R Krishna Kumar of IIT, Madras said, “In the world of mathematical modelling prediction is not the only important result, understanding mechanics and importance of parameters in affecting output called sensitivity analysis is equally important.” More and more people are getting aware of the facility and with the completion of testing tracks, customers are showing interest in using the services.”New customers that are likely to use the Pithampur facility from next financial year are Volkswagen, Honda Motors, Toyota and Knorr-Bremse among others, according to Karuppaiah.Currently around 35 automobile giants such as Volvo-Eicher, Apollo Tyres, CEAT, Mahindra & Mahindra, JK Tyres, Bridgestone , Cummins, Tata Motors and MRF among others are using the testing tracks.NATRiP CEO Neeti Sarkar said, “The high speed test track is likely to be completed by December 2019 and with this we expect to undertake many more development works from existing as well as new customers, this being a unique facility that is available only in select few places in the world.”A two-day workshop on Vehicle Dynamics was organized by NATRAX in collaboration with SAEINDIA on March 14-15 to provide platform for sharing recent developments by experts, hands-on experience, exchange of ideas, identification of research areas and potential collaboration.Vehicle dynamics plays an essential role in development of safe and high-performance vehicles and significant efforts are being made by Indian automotive industry in research and development and evaluation of vehicle dynamic performance parameters, experts said.
