Indore: A scuffle broke out between Indore Municipal Corporation staff and supporters of zone 2 corporator, when an IMC employee, who was charging fine for using sub-standard polythene, was slapped in Chandan Nagar area on Monday. Video of the incident also went viral on social media.Police said complainant Yogendra Dixit, 28, resident of Vishwakarma Nagar, was posted as assistant chief sanitation inspector in IMC zone 15. On Monday, he went to Chandan Nagar for inspection and found sub-standard polythene bags. He imposed a fine of Rs 2000 against the offender.Zone-2 corporator Mubarik Mansuri reached the spot and tried to stop IMC officials from doing their duty. Their argument escalated and corporator’s supporters allegedly slapped the IMC employee.Mansuri said, “IMC employees are deliberately targeting people of Chandan Nagar. Polythene bags are being used by all businessmen in the city but IMC employees take action against small businessmen only.”A case of obstructing a government employee from performing his duties and assault was registered at Chandan Nagar police station against three accused - Chhotu Sharma, Syed Mamu and Mohamamd Mukim. Late on Monday evening, a video showing corporator Mansuri slapping the IMC employee went viral.SSP Ruchi Vardhan Mishra said, “Initially, Dixit did not lodge the complaint against the corporator. But after the video went viral, complainant said he wanted to file complaint against Mansuri as well. Once we record the statements of complainant again, a case against Mansuri will also be registered.”Mansuri said, “In the video, it looked like I was hitting the employee but actually I was trying to save him from the public.”’
