Indore: A man was killed in a massive blaze that broke out in a dhaba and spread to two other shops at Chandragupta crossing on MR 10 on Sunday morning.At 9 am, plumes of thick smoke could be seen across Chandragupta crossing as fire fighters battled the flames that spread to a paan shop and an Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) vend.Two fire tenders and 14 water tankers were pressed into service to douse the fire. Fire fighters were able to control the blaze in around two hours, Heera Nagar police station in charge Rajeev Bhadoriya said.The fire might have broken out because of a short circuit at the dhaba. It claimed life of the liquor shop employee, 27-year-old Chetan, said Bhadoriya adding that Chetan a resident of Khargone, was sleeping inside shop when the incident took place.Goods worth Rs 1.5 crore were reduced to ashes in fire. A godown behind the liquor shop which had huge stock of liquor also caught fire, shop owner Mahendra Namdev told police.During investigation, police learnt that the liquor shop was not following rules since no fire extinguisher were found at the spot. “We are still investigating the cause of fire and actual losses incurred,” Bhadoriya said.
