The social media craze has ensured that stylish clothes, blow dried hair that does colourful flips for slo-mo videos and flashy sunglasses that add the perfect glam look - become the essentials instead. Because if it’s not on Insta, Snap or TikTok , is it even #HoliOnCampus? For this week’s, we decided to take a look at how collegians are gearing for the social media perfect campus celebration of Holi, today!Trendy tops and tees – check. Swagger wala sunglasses – check. Blow dried hair – check. This is how the current batch of students are getting ready for celebration on campus. Being a generation that likes to religiously post every celebration on every social media platform, collegians are ensuring that they are in their glamorous avtars for the pictures that would go up under #HoliOnCampus. Mahima Upadhyay, a final year student from Renaissance College has got her fashion game point on. “I recently got these butterfly frames reflecting sunglasses specially for Holi parties. Since we generally wear plain tops for these celebration, as they are bound to get multi-coloured during celebration, I wanted my accessories to stand out. I’m also going to pair it with big hoops to channel the whole retro look.” Boys are not far behind. White tees and distressed denims being their preferred dress-up for the celebration. Rahul Vishwakarma another second year student from Renaissance College shares his plan, “I don’t believe in dressing down for Holi celebration. Colours or not, I’m going to be ready for all the pictures that go up on social media. People prefer getting haircuts and grooming done after Holi, but I want to be selfie ready so I have already got my styling in place. To retain maximum colours on my outfit, I’m wearing a white tee and white sneakers”.It is not just the perfect look that these collegians are aiming for. They are also trying out new cool moves for the photos and videos that have been trending on the net for Holi picture. Be it the filmy hair flip in slo-mo or the jump boomerang, they are in for everything – and in style. Sheeba Khan, final year student from Akshay Academy says, “Since last year I’d been looking at girls posting their hair flip videos in slo-mo or boomerang. I so wanted to do that, so this year I’m going to blow dry my hair so it falls perfectly for these kind of pictures and videos.” While Pooja Ratnani, a third year law student from Department of Law, PIEMR is matching her accessories with her dress. “I’m going to try many action poses that I’ve been looking up on social media like jumping with colours, boomerang of colour throw and the likes. My friends and I have been discussing all these poses on our messaging groups as to what all will we try. The phone is full of such screenshots.”Collegians in Indore are not hesitating from going the extra mile to get the perfect Holi shot for their feed. If gulaal and organic colours weren’t enough, they’re getting smoke bombs to literally make their photos lit! Kunal Bagora, a second year student from PMB Gujarati Commerce College shares, “These days our Holi celebrations on campus do not have much water, so it all about dry colours. But after many failed attempts in last year we have come to realise that how much ever we throw the colours in air it does not create the desired effect in photos. So this year we have all contributed and bought smoke bombs of various colours, and will be using it to create that extra colour effect in our group pictures.” Besides that selfie sticks are certainly the must-haves for at least one member of the group to get their top shots in place. Kratika Bangar, a first year student at SJMC is going to be celebrating first Holi in college and was surprised to hear the checklist of things for the festival. “Typically it would consist of colours, dhol and gujiya. But my seniors have all these things like selfie sticks, action cameras, smoke bombs and all in their celebration discussion. I’m really excited to see what this new age Holi on campus today.”
