This lake was primarily fed by Rau channel.“As time passed, the lake witnessed steady depletion of water level, caused by tree felling and encroachments. Deepening is required on entire channel stretch while widening would be done on three locations including Silicon City, Hukumkhedi and Rau.“The alignment of channel has been disturbed due to various reasons, and during monsoon , water instead of going directly into Bilawali overflows from the channel,” said Sewakram Patidar , an engineer associated with the project. He said that this has prompted IMC to plan for a repair of the entire channel. “Once repaired, it would allow IMC to store maximum amount of water, which in turn would provide additional 10MLD water,” he said, adding that they aim to complete work before monsoon. For the last two years, water level in the lake has not crossed 70 per cent mark,” officials said.Detailing about the project, officials said that width and depth of channel would be increased by 3.5m and 4-5m respectively.
