INDORE: Bars and pubs will soon come under district administration’s scanner on serving alcohol after midnight.Following recent incident of a police official shutting a bar for operating after midnight, district administration has decided to formulize a plan to help better implementation of rules.“There are set rules to provide liquor licence to pub, bar, restaurant, club and one of them is the deadline to serve liquor only till midnight and violation of the rules can result in termination of licence,” district collector Lokesh Kumar Jatav told TOI.Serving liquor is restricted after midnight but in absence of regular check, complaints of the local clubs violating the deadline are received at regular interval.According to local excise department, 30 FL-2 licences for restaurant-bar and 30 FL-3 licences for hotel-bar were issued for 2014-15. It increased to 88 this year. Four club-bars and 14 commercial club-bars have been operating in city on FL-4 and FL-4A licences respectively.On DSP Pallavi Shukla carrying out raid at a bar in Vijay Nagar for allegedly serving liquor to customers at around 1.30am, the collector said, “Instructions have been issued to excise department to formulize a plan to ensure pub, bar, restaurant, clubs with liquor licence adhere to the time-limit.”He added that under the plan, a punching machine to record entry and exit of customers can be installed outside facilities while records of CCTVs can be assessed. Besides, regular check by excise officials will help in keeping things under control. “It’s expected to take next few days in formulating the plan for execution,” collector said.
