Santra's husband, Asaram, received grievous burns on his upper body trying to save them.Mamta's brother, Ajay, told reporters that she was in a relationship with a local youth named Rahul for the past few years. Santra was furious when she got to know and would often beat up Mamta to stop her from seeing Rahul, police said. Asaram and other family members, however, did not have any problem with Rahul, and were ready for the marriage.On Wednesday, Rahul's family came to Mamta's house to talk about marriage, after which the arguments started.Badgonda cops said a case has been registered and the bodies handed over to the family after autopsy.Santra poured kerosene on herself and the front walls of the house. When Mamta continued to argue with her, she allegedly sprinkled kerosene on her too. Threatening to commit suicide, Santra locked herself in for a few minutes but was persuaded to come out."But they did not stop fighting. Mamta was standing near the door when my mother went to a nearby ally and set herself on fire. She ran towards the house, and Mamta's clothes also caught fire," Ajay said. Asaram jumped in to rescue them and doused the flames but it was too late.The trio was taken to Mhow Civil Hospital, from where mother and daughter were referred to MY Hospital late at night.
