INDORE: Technical glitches halted government’s procurement of Rabi crops on first day of the two-month-long process. No purchase of wheat and gram could be recorded at any centres across district.“Software designed to generate slip (token) to registered farmers before purchasing wheat and gram crops was required to be filled with information of weight of loaded and unloaded vehicle, in which crops would arrive at the centres. Technically, the vehicle can be unloaded only after crops are procured and thus, weight of unloaded vehicle can’t be provided at the time of arrival of crops,” ADM Dinesh Jain told TOI.He added that issue has been informed to senior officials in Bhopal Another issue that hampered the process was the system failing to send SMS to registered farmers about their turn for bringing crops at government centres for procurement.“As informed by headquarters, the system will start sending SMS from March 29. Till then, we have received instructions of procuring crops from registered farmers, who turn up in the centres” said Jain.Unaware of technical glitches, many farmers turned up at the procurement centre in Depalpur.
