Milk gets costlier by Rs 2 per litre

INDORE: Milk prices have gone up by Rs 2 per litre owing to sharp rise in cattle fodder rates and reduced output, said Indore Dudgh Vikreta Sangh In a meeting held on Sunday, Indore Dudgh Vikreta Sangh has raised prices of milk to Rs 43 per litre effective from April 1.Association president Bharat Mathurawala said, “Milk prices have been raised by Rs 2 per litre because cost of rearing and production has gone up. According to association, collection of milk in summers is likely to drop to 10-11 lakh liters as against demand of 12.5 lakh litre. In winters, supply of milk goes up to 13 lakh litre. The association of milk suppliers said that prices of cattle feed has gone up to Rs 2,700 per quintal from 1,800 per quintal about two months ago.
