Body of infant recovered from the freezer

The body had been there for five days it was placed in the mortuary freezer on September 12, after the infant died. Hospital staff apparently forgot about it after it was placed inside the freezer.

The body of infant was recovered from the freezer in the mortuary of the Maharaja Yeshwantrao (MY) Hospital in Indore its city`s largest government medical facility.

The body had been there for five days it was placed in the mortuary freezer on September 12, after the infant died. Hospital staff apparently forgot about it after it was placed inside the freezer.

The boy was found abandoned in Alirajpur district founded by a district Childline staffer in July and got him admitted to District hospital in Alirajpur,  hospital authorities have referred the boy to MY hospital. The boy satyed till death in MY hospital.

Superitendent of MY hospital Dr PS Thakur said that “Immediately after death of the boy, the CMO was informed on the intervening night of September 11 and 12. The CMO informed the police at 4am immediately to record the death so as to begin the post-mortem and other things.”

Police official decline the allegation of delay because of their carelessness recording the death. Rajeev Tripathi said “The police received the information about death of the boy  on Thursday evening and immediately recorded the death. So, here is no delay from our end.”

Few days back a decomposed body was found in a mortuary. The body remained there for around 10 days exposed to the open atmosphere.
