Over 3,000 investors eager to do business in MSME clusters

Over 3,000 proposals from investors from across Madhya Pradesh have come to the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) department for setting up new facilities or expanding existing operations.

Over 3,000 proposals from investors from across Madhya Pradesh have come to the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) department for setting up new facilities or expanding existing operations.

Besides shortlisted proposals, about 2,000 applications from entrepreneurs are in the pipeline.

The MSME department has invited proposals from investors to set up operations in newly proposed clusters of which five of them are dedicated to furniture, toys, confectionery, pharmaceuticals and food processing are coming up in the Indore region.

MSME minister Om Prakash Sakhlecha said, “Around 3,000 applications from entrepreneurs have already landed up with us while 2,000 applications are in the pipeline. Looking at the interest, we are hoping around 5,000 entrepreneurs to set up facilities by this year.”

For the proposed clusters, the MSME department has identified a few chunks of land in the Indore region suitable as per the requirement for furniture and toy clusters, while other areas are also being explored for the rest of the proposed clusters in the region. “Clusters will help local industries to meet the competitiveness and pricing of China and reduce our dependence on Chinese products. We have collected feedback from potential investors and offering land and facilities to create manufacturing hub,” said Sakhlecha.

Industry associations of Indore have submitted proposals to the MSME department mentioning their requirement and number of interested investors for clusters.
