Indore district has reported three-fold increase in load of active cases in last 17 days between February 17 and Friday night, shows daily health bulletin record.

The bulletin released by chief medical and health officer showed that the active Covid-19 cases had risen to 1378 on Friday from 435 on February 17. The increase was reported after district began to show a re-surge in the cases of Covid-19.

Dr Anil Dongre, district contact tracing in-charge said, “The active cases have increased rapidly in last two weeks because of rise in daily infections of pandemic virus.”

After two months the phenomenon of family transmission is reported in several areas in district, said Dr Dongre. “Earlier, we were suspecting of a possible change in strain of virus, a cause behind the re-surge, which had been proved with a report from NCDC,” added Dr Dongre. A genome sequencing report of 105 samples from NCDC found six persons positive of the new UK variant strain.

The record suggested that cases had doubled between February 17 and 24 to cross the level of 800. In another three days on February 28, it crossed the mark of 1000. The district added around 300 cases in just five days.

Of those 92 areas, maximum 11 cases were reported from South Tukoganj, eight from Nanda Nagar, six from Sudama Nagar, five from Goyal Nagar, four cases each from Sneh Nagar, Maple woods, Palda, Vishwakarma Nagar, Sarvasuvidha Nagar.
